Although I am a proponent of TCM, I still do not recommend that you seek out “Advanced Chinese Medicine”. In short, everything that claims to be “advanced” is often less than reliable.
TCM has evolved to the point where it is better suited as an alternative and complementary treatment rather than the only treatment.
For example, when you have a fever, it is more important to resort to modern medicine for diagnosis (to avoid COVID-19) rather than running to a TCM clinic.
“Advanced” is not a good thing
Chinese medicine and Ayurveda, they used to be great medicines that saved countless people.
But today, they have become worse. This is because:
- They are less cautious than modern medicine.
- they rarely study specific negative effects.
- Many people use their mysteriousness to defraud…
A word like “advanced” is a good thing when it comes to devices like AI, computers, and cell phones.
When it comes to medicine, it’s not a good thing.
That’s why sites like Healthline and Verywell, which devote a lot of time to vetting, use the most plain and objective words, not hyperbolic ones.
So, as much as possible, think of TCM and Ayurveda as an alternative therapy, not the only solution.
Is Chinese medicine not to be trusted?
Don’t worry, TCM is still credible.
As we discussed in our previous article, TCM does not do well in some areas, but it still has accumulated thousands of years of experience.
It has even provided the basis for much of modern medicine and saved a lot of trouble.
So, the next time you get sick, first go get diagnosed by a doctor.
Then, consult the relevant herbalist. Ask them:
What should I do to prevent possible illnesses through diet and lifestyle modifications.
Don’t forget, the next time someone tells you “I’m a professional senior Chinese medicine doctor”, be careful!
